Online CE courses let you earn credits from home. They are often cheaper and faster than in-person classes. But not all online courses count in every state. Here is what to look for when picking online CE courses for your massage therapy license renewal.
Do online CE courses count in your state?
Most states accept online CE courses for at least part of your requirement. Some states let you do all your hours online. Others cap online hours at 50% or less. A few states require some hands-on hours that must be done in person. Always check your state board rules before signing up.
What to look for in a course
- NCBTMB-approved or approved by your state board
- Covers a category you still need (ethics, techniques, business, etc.)
- Gives you a certificate of completion you can save
- Self-paced so you can fit it around your schedule
Popular online CE providers
ABMP and AMTA both offer online CE courses for members. The Institute for Integrative Healthcare has a wide course catalog. NCBTMB keeps a list of approved providers on their website. Prices range from free webinars to $20 or more per CE hour. Bundles that cover your whole renewal cycle are often the best deal.
